Fleet plays a critical role in ensuring the City's extensive fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment are safe, reliable and available to support service delivery across the organisation. The team is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, operational performance and customer service while delivering cost-effective solutions for the City.
About the role
As the Coordinator Fleet Maintenance and Fabrication, you will lead and manage the City's Fleet Workshop teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient and cost-effective maintenance and fabrication services.
You will provide operational leadership, oversee compliance and risk management requirements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure fleet assets remain safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing maintenance, fleet, workshop, engineering or operational teams.
- Leading Fleet Maintenance and Fabrication operations to achieve operational objectives, performance targets and key performance indicators.
- Managing workshop teams and resources to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused services.
- Providing oversight of fleet asset maintenance, modifications and fabrication activities.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and standards, including TORUM, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and workplace safety requirements.
- Monitoring performance, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing initiatives that enhance operational outcomes.
- Managing business processes including staffing movements, secondments, recruitment requests, purchase approvals and workforce planning activities.
- Ensuring workplace incidents are appropriately recorded, investigated and managed through the City's WHS systems.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support service delivery and operational requirements.
- Contributing to strategic planning and supporting the delivery of Fleet business objectives.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing maintenance, fleet, workshop, engineering or operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance practices, heavy vehicles, plant and equipment management.
- Experience managing operational performance, budgets, resources and service delivery outcomes.
- A strong understanding of compliance, risk management and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong problem-solving, planning and decision-making capabilities.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, customer service and operational excellence.
