About the team
The Waste & Resource Recovery Collections team is a fast-paced, collaborative, and interdependent business unit, supporting the delivery of a city-wide essential service. The team consists of dedicated, high-performing individuals managing several contracts and support our contractors to perform over 1.8 million collections per month for residential and commercial customers across the City of Gold Coast. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Project Officer to support our Quality Assurance team, contract delivery partners and internal support areas.
About the role
- Manage and report on organics and waste collection data, ensuring data integrity, quality assurance, and accurate information to support service delivery, operational decision-making, rates, billing and compliance requirements.
- Provide application support and contribute to the Waste Collections Data Integrity Assurance Program through auditing, data validation, system monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Investigate and resolve waste, recycling, diversion and system-related issues, applying analytical and problem-solving skills to identify practical solutions and improve customer outcomes.
- Identify and implement system, process and data management improvements that enhance operational efficiency, compliance and service performance.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, correspondence and recommendations to support informed decision-making and business improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to support data management, contractor claims validation, payment processes, compliance activities and service delivery outcomes.
- Support audits, projects and cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with team members to achieve business unit objectives and continuous improvement outcomes.
We’re looking for people who have:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:
- Diploma of Data Science, Business and/or equivalent experience.
- Current C Class Driver Licence.
- Experience working with data, business systems and reporting tools to support operational outcomes and informed decision-making.
- A curious and analytical mindset, with the ability to investigate issues, validate information and identify practical solutions.
- Technical aptitude and an interest in understanding how systems, data and technology support business operations. Exposure to databases, APIs, SQL, AI tools or similar technologies will be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, contractors and service providers.
- Experience supporting quality assurance, compliance, audit or continuous improvement activities.
- The ability to contribute to system enhancements, change initiatives and process improvements that improve service delivery and customer outcomes.
