Immunisation Nurse

  • Are you an RN looking for casual work delivering the high school immunisation program? Shifts will be generally scheduled anytime within the 9:00 am - 2:00 pm timeframe, but not necessarily for the full duration.
  • The City of Whyalla has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Immunisation Nurse to administer vaccines as part of the Council's High School Immunisation Program.

About the role:

The Immunisation Nurse. Some of the duties and responsibilities include:

  • Administer vaccines and conduct immunisation sessions in accordance with Council’s immunisation services and in compliance with the Department of Health recommendations
  • Prepare medical supplies and equipment for each immunisation session
  • Assist with the preparation and pack up of each immunisation session
  • Ensure vaccination consent cards are signed off as true and accurate on completion of administered vaccine
  • Ensure all clinical waste is disposed of in an approved manner
  • Provide courteous and effective communication to all customers/clients and Council Staff
  • Conduct activities in line with Council’s values and immunisation protocols

About you:

We are seeking energetic individuals who have:

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Certificate in Understanding Vaccines and the National Immunisation Program (as approved by the Department of Health) or willingness to obtain
  • Current Working with Children’s check or ability to obtain
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with children and adults
  • Current Drivers Licence

The salary applicable for this role is in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers' Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement, paid at Level 4, commencing at $86,863, paid pro-rata for hours worked and casual loading applies.
