About the role:
We are seeking a practical and motivated Building & Maintenance Officer to support the Facilities Coordinator in ensuring Council’s buildings and infrastructure are safe, functional, and well maintained for the community.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out inspections of Council buildings and infrastructure, identifying issues and planning preventative maintenance.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, cost-effective way.
- Manage vandalism and damage repairs, including contractor engagement, incident reporting, and insurance processes.
- Assist with procurement processes, including purchase orders, quotes, and contract monitoring.
- Contribute to workplace safety by identifying hazards, managing risks, and promoting safe work practices.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and community stakeholders.

- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to complete a wide range of tasks within designated timeframes and in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment, developing and maintaining cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with a demonstrated commitment to high-level customer service.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in working with managers, staff, and stakeholders to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex matters.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Current South Australian Working with Children's Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current Drivers License.

The salary applicable for this role is in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement, paid at Level 3 commencing at $81,851 per annum.
