About the role

The current stevedoring opportunities are entry level roles. You will start as a casual with an opportunity to move to more permanent arrangements in future. You will receive generous remuneration including shift premiums and overtime.

As a Stevedore you will be assisting in the loading and unloading of cargo being handled at the DP World Melbourne Terminal. Your main tasks will include:

• Manual tasks – you will work in teams to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 25kg.
• Operating heavy vehicles - you will operate heavy vehicles to transport shipping containers around the wharf.
• Driving light vehicles - you will drive a manual, 12 seat light vehicle to transport personnel around the terminal.

You will work 8-hour shifts across day, evening and night, Monday to Sunday. Notification of your shifts will be made available to you one day in advance.

A paid comprehensive induction and training program will be provided.

Experience, skills and qualifications

DP World is looking for people who share our values of respect, pride, courage and gratitude.

You will also have the following:

• A current and valid full Driver's licence (manual desirable)
• A current and valid Forklift license (or willing to obtain a licence prior to commencement)
• Able to work safely and as part of a team
• Able to work flexible and irregular hours including nights and weekends at short notice
• Able to work at heights
• Physically capable to undertake heavy manual tasks

Nice to have, but not essential:

• Experience with shift work across 24 hours, 7 days per week
• Experience with physical work or labouring
• Experience operating heavy machinery
