A gentleman in Fairfield is looking for a support worker with cooking experience to assist him on Monday afternoons. The role includes assistance with shopping, cooking and hosting dinner parties. He is looking for someone positive and encouraging who can make cooking fun while clearly breaking down the different tasks and skills required to make the meal. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and confident cook. They will have the ability to cook a range of delicious and healthy meals and a solid understanding of nutrition and how to cater for dietary restrictions. Commercial cooking experience is not essential but would be a bonus.
The Role:
- Assisting to choose a menu to cook dinner for guests (3-8 people depending on occasion)
- Grocery shopping for the meal and for the week (shopping centre is walking distance, car not required)
- Building independent skills while shopping
- Building community connections at the local shops
- Mentoring while cooking
- Helping to produce a delicious casual dinner party meal
- Helping to attractively present the meal
- Focusing on healthy options and catering for dietary needs
- Cleaning main pots and pans together
- Watering herb garden
Shifts:
- Mondays from 1-5.30pm (but can extend until 6pm occasionally)
- Other shifts may become available
Requirements:
- Value and respect that you work directly for the young man and his family
- Criminal History Check e.g. NDIS workers Screening (or willing to obtain)
- Reasonable travelling distance to Fairfield area
