Female Disability Support Worker

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate, independent Female Disability Support Worker to assist a 41-year-old woman living in her own home in Gympie. She enjoys arts and crafts, cooking, dancing, puzzles, catching up with friends, and spending time with family. She also likes getting out and about in her local community and often takes day trips to Cooroy, Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay.

This role requires a strong understanding of various disabilities, particularly Epilepsy (seizure management / seizure first aid), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and related behavioural management strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of experience, skills, and personal attributes that align with the lady’s support needs. They will work collaboratively with the family and support team to foster a supportive, engaging environment and ensure she has a fulfilling and active lifestyle.

 The Role:

  • All Aspects of Daily living
  • Personal Care
  • Mobility Assistance
  • Seizure Monitoring
  • Medication Management
  • Assistance with Domestic Tasks
  • Community Access

Shifts:

  • Wednesday - 2.30pm to Wednesday 6pm
  • Friday - 6pm to Saturday 6pm (fortnightly)
  • Sunday - 6pm to Monday 10am (fortnightly or weekly)

Pay Rate (Under ABN):

  • $60 – Monday - Friday
  • $80 - Saturday
  • $90 - Sunday
  • $100 - Public Holiday
  • $200 - Sleepover (block rate)

The Successful applicant will be:

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing routines
  • Available for long shifts / 24 hour shifts
  • A strong team player
  • Firm but fair, someone with consistent, respectful boundaries
  • Physically fit and healthy, due to the nature of the role and its demands
  • Ideally someone with experience in seizure management / seizure first aid
  • Confident working independently in the home environment
  • Emotionally intelligent and calm with a grounded approach
  • A reliable backup team member for holiday and sick leave coverage
  • Confident managing complex needs and communicating clearly with the team and family
  • Comfortable working solo and able to take initiative

Essential requirements:

  • +2 years experience Disability support work
  • ABN & Insurance
  • Non-Smoker
  • Open Driver’s license and own vehicle with insurance
  • Live within reasonable travelling distance
  • Current First Aid Certificate & CPR
  • NDIS Worker Screening/Yellow Card (or willing to obtain)
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Clearance)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Flexibility to pick up additional hours when needed
