About the role

We are looking for a Procurement Officer to join the growing team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Procurement Officer is responsible for assessing products, services and suppliers and is responsible for ensuring that approved purchases are of a sufficient quality, cost efficient and timely in their arrival. This position requires dedication & skill to undertake the purchasing decisions for the irrigation division of the business.  The position will challenge the holder to be adaptive and creative in developing practices & relationships needed to reliably meet the goods and services requirements of the business while remaining loyal to the company’s brand, and expectations of high customer satisfaction. The Procurement Officer is responsible for all branch purchasing decisions, including inventory controls, document processing, and maintaining all quality to company standards and legal requirements while adhering to established policies, procedures, practices, and regulations. The Procurement Officer will work closely with the Branch Manager, Sales staff, Logistics Officer, and Senior Management to achieve these goals.

Responsibilities

The Procurement Officer will perform the following tasks:

  • Management of Purchasing operations & performance of the branch’s inventory ensuring profitability & reliable supply of goods to clients.
  • Keep stock control systems up to date and plan for future capacity requirements.
  • Identification & implementation of opportunities that improve the profitability of individual products and/or services.
  • Build and maintain positive customer & supplier relationships to strengthen loyalty and reputation.
  • Assist with Corporate clients & development of strategies to maximise sales to these customers.
  • Provide information & ideas to assist in the companies, marketing, and advertising programs.
  • Present a professional image through personal appearance.
  • Ensuring product compliance with all government regulations and company standards with emphasis on workplace health & safety.
  • Keeping up to date with current trends within the industry and utilising the information to the company’s advantage.
  • Ensure stockholding values are maintained within the budgeted amount as provided by senior management.
  • Attend supplier & industry meetings as required.
  • Make sales to new and existing clients.
  • Ensure Company Policies & Procedures are adhered to within the Branch.
  • Maintain Store Manifest monthly.
  • Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records.
  • Assist in training new staff as required.
  • Assist in achieving and maintaining necessary branch licenses e.g. Chemical poisons, dangerous goods, Qld Fire, Qld Health, and Agsafe.
  • Produce, present and manage tender documents/quotes to fulfill customers’ requirements.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned by senior management.
  • Management of Agency requirements and procedures with various suppliers monthly.
  • Build and maintain positive customer & supplier relationships to strengthen loyalty and reputation.
  • Determine and maintain Retail price schedules to maximise the return on investment.
  • Determine and maintain any customer discount rates. Ensure Resellers pricing is correct.

About you:

The Procurement Officer should possess the following skills:

  • Previous purchasing and sales experience.
  • Strong focus on branch/business planning, strategic thinking, innovation, and communications skills.
  • Use of Computer-based Accounting system necessary to perform this job.
  • Familiar with the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Xcel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to Forward plan for future growth.
  • Ability to produce Budgets.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team goals.
  • Create reports as required by policy or at request from senior management.
  • Take responsible care for their own and others' health & safety.
  • Co-operate with senior management about all matters of health & safety.
  • Detect and report hazards and risks in the workplace.
  • Advise effective measures to eliminate or minimize hazards and risks.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping standard are maintained in the workplace.
  • Minimise manual handling risks.
  • Report & correct unsafe conditions
  • Report all incidents immediately via the WHS procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and current legislation.
