Bridge Carpenter/Operator

Job No: ESC251
Location: Moruya

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated trade qualified carpenter to work across the Shire on a variety of timber/concrete structures including bridges, jetties and boat ramps.

You will assist in the preparation, control and monitoring of bridge/wharf/boat ramp and other carpentry projects, and when required lead a small team. An ability and willingness to undertake physical labouring tasks, basic understanding and experience in plant capabilities and outputs used in the construction area, and proven related ability of monitoring projects will be crucial for this role. Trade qualifications, driver’s licence and various certificates (as outlined in the information package) are also required. Previous experience working on bridges is desirable.

Bridge building and carpentry by its nature involves a considerable amount of moderate to heavy manual labour. Manual handling tasks associated with bridge construction require candidates to have the physical capability and strength to operate large-sized equipment and may preclude persons with a smaller stature, those with a history of serious muscular-skeletal injury or evidence of advancing genetic deterioration.

If you are a highly motivated individual who can work harmoniously within a team environment as well as productively on your own, has a practical ability and a keen eye for detail, we invite you to apply.

This is a permanent, full time, 38 hours per week position. Total remuneration is in the range $1,253.70 to $1,338.39 gross per week, comprising of:

  • $1,129.13 to $1,206.47 base salary,
  • $15.80 Adverse Working Conditions allowance, plus
  • $108.77 to $116.12 superannuation (at 9.5%)
