Male Disability Support Worker

Hello, I am 36-year-old man who lives in Gympie. I am looking for a male support worker who is physically fit, healthy and energetic to support me on weekends, weekdays and in the evenings. You will assist me with personal care and pursuing my physical interests including water sports and the gym. You must have excellent communication skills and a willingness to listen, learn and take direction from someone with a disability in a professional and respectful manner. I am looking for someone with aligned values who will attentively adapt to my communication style and support me to live my life the way I want to (right down to the finer details of my personal preferences). Communication is especially important. The ideal support worker will be comfortable with silence and provide the space for me to process information and respond in my own time. The role will be best suited to someone calm and patient who listens with their ears and eyes. I am looking for someone who will follow my lead and respect my decisions and preferences at all times.

*No prior knowledge of disability support is required, all training will be provided*

The Role:

  • Provide personal care in the evenings to have dinner and prepare for bed
  • Support to engage in physical activities (interest in swimming and exercise will be highly regarded)
  • Support to pursue interests as required 

General Shift Information:

  • Evenings - 3/4pm - 8pm
  • Weekday - 8am - 3pm
  • Weekends 9am - 4pm 
  • Availability required for a couple of weekends a month

*Approximately 30 hours per week + opportunities to pick up extra shifts when team members are on leave

Pay Rates:

  • Training Shifts - $30 per hour
  • Level 1 Start - $40 per hour
  • Saturdays - $50 per hour
  • Sundays - $60 per hour

*Rates may be negotiable relative to experience and qualifications*

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Open Queensland Drivers License
  • Yellow Card / NDIS Workers Screening (Or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Certificate & CPR
  • NDIS Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • COVID Vaccinated preferred
  • Live within reasonable travelling distance
  • Working rights in Australia
  • Flexibility to pick up additional hours when needed
