The Role:
Are you an experienced engineering leader with a passion for driving operational excellence? We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Engineering Manager to lead the team based at our Liverpool, NSW manufacturing site.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering APAC, in this key role you see you leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, providing overall direction, coordination, and execution of specific engineering activities aligned with our company's strategy, commitments and goals. Your leadership will play a crucial role in maintaining our facility and equipment at optimal levels of safety and operational readiness.
Key Accountabilities:
Engineering:
- Maintain facility and equipment in a safe and operational state of readiness at all times in order to fulfill daily production requirements and ensure people safety, product safety, quality and legality
- Maintain comprehensive engineering records, including preventive maintenance schedules and machine history.
- Operate the engineering department within budgetary guidelines and review progress with management regularly.
- Implement and manage an efficient preventive maintenance program to minimize production downtime.
- Provide support for project work as required, particularly in the deployment of new equipment or processing changes which need to be integrated into existing maintenance system
- Conduct safety and food safety risk assessments before engaging in any engineering activity.
- Prepare tenders, oversee vendor selection, and manage relationships with contractors.
- Continually evaluate new equipment and production techniques to ensure that ARYZTA is on the leading edge of bakery technology.
People and Relationships:
- Lead and coordinate team members and contractors, ensuring objectives are met and critical issues resolved.
- Coordinate meetings with senior management and establish effective working relationships and two-way communication throughout the company.
- Develop and evaluate engineering teams, focusing on selection, training, competency, and development.
- Manage contractor and external partner performance, ensuring proper induction and documentation.
Procedural:
- Lead environmental, health, and safety programs within the engineering teams.
- Provide timely and accurate management reports and data for operating budgets, including development and continuous improvement of reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with ARYZTA quality policies and procedures related to food safety, product quality, safety, and environment.
- Review and critique existing engineering systems, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
About you:
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- 5 years+ experience in a complex engineering environment, ideally with a large-scale baking/food or FMCG company.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering/maintenance management.
- Engineering qualifications or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to drive cultural change, people development and teams engagement.
- Commercial acumen and experience in negotiating with external partners/vendors.
- Effective prioritization and execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility with working schedules and availability for afterhours work when required.
