The Role:

A rare opportunity has become available for a Planning & Inventory Control Engineer to join the team based in our industrial bakery in Glenfield, Auckland (North Shore).

As the Engineering Planning & Inventory Control in our dynamic organization, you will play a pivotal role in planning, leading, supervising, and directing engineering functions. Your responsibilities include installing, maintaining, improving, and fault-finding mechanical equipment, ensuring operational safety, efficiency, and fitness for purpose.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and materials management.
  • Manage work orders using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) called MEX
  • Update equipment and preventative maintenance plans in MEX Plant Maintenance.
  • Identify and obtain materials, requisition orders, and kits as per procedures.
  • Estimate costs for work orders, including direct labor, materials, and total cost.
  • Verify availability of parts, materials, and tools before scheduling jobs.
  • Liaise with engineers for scheduled maintenance, ordering components, consumables, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain master equipment files in both hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Perform Planner workflow functions in MEX.
  • Identify critical component needs and establish safe stock requirements in MEX.
  • Ensure optimal stock levels and up-to-date MSDS forms for lubricants and chemicals.
  • Optimize existing PMs with detailed information and establish organized spare parts storage.
  • Support engineering during breakdown situations as needed.
  • Liaise and build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders regularly.
  • Support and actively participate in plant operation planning, evaluation, and problem-solving.

About You:

We are seeking a Planning Engineer who is a do-er, results-driven, highly organized, detail-oriented and prepared to be hands on when required.

To thrive in this role you will need:

  • A certificate in Mechanical or Electrical trade;
  • 3+ years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in FMCG/food industry
  • Competent following engineering schematic drawings;
  • Demonstrable competence in fault finding skills on mechanical, pneumatic equipment;
  • Basic level Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Microsoft Office skills;
  • High safety standards
  • Proven problem solver with ability to prioritise and multi-task;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Customer service focused (internal and external)
  • Experience and knowledge of welding, electricity, pneumatics, steam and gear reducers will be advantageous

Shift pattern: 6am-3pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility for weekend work when required.
