We are currently seeking an experienced Public Areas Supervisor to join our busy team.

Position Overview:

Public Areas are responsible for receiving stores and luggage from the flyer and distribution to the relative department (s). Primarily, the role requires cleaning and servicing of public areas, bathrooms, both restaurants, pathways, reception, and lobby areas, ensuring that all areas are presented to company standards. The role of the Supervisor is to lead and manage a small team of PA Attendants.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading a team to ensure the safe and professional delivery of services, setting a positive example at all times.
  • Meeting & greeting of guests and at all times providing professional, helpful, friendly and accurate customer service.
  • Follow all chemical safety policies, ensuring that safety data sheets are being adhered to. 
  • Clean designated areas including, but not limited to, restrooms, public areas, offices, Zephyrs, Foxys, lobby, pathways, stairwells, lifts, balcony’s and event areas.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment and report any faults.
  • Ensure that record keeping is up to date and record all completed rooms ready for inspection.
  • Return and properly tag all lost property items to the Housekeeping Office.
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks and projects, when required and identify rooms that require special attention.
  • Maintain housekeeping and PA carts and ensure they are fully stocked with consumables, linen and cleaning supplies.
  • Retrieve any guest going on or off vessel taking ownership of guest’s belongings, ensuring that the upmost care is given to guest property to ensure that it is not compromised or damaged.
  • Meet and greet the Fitzroy Flyer and other vessels as requested on arrival and departure.
  • Assisting in the embarkment and disembarkment of Vessels, including throwing ropes, and placing the gangway.
  • Ensure our environmental responsibilities within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park are met and adhered to.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks assigned by a manager.
 Person Specification:
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills and a natural communicator.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and proven ability to manage a team to achieve goals.
  • Punctual and reliable projecting a professional image at all times.
  • Customer service focused with the ability to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain strong communication with fellow staff, other Island departments and management alike.
  • Has the ability and willingness to undertake further development.
  • Reflect a commitment to working and promoting a strong team orientated work ethic.
  • Ability to work weekends and public holidays is crucial.
  • Physically fit.

Mandatory:

  • Must have a current National Police Check issued by Queensland Police or able to obtain one within three weeks of commencing employment- for all live on Island staff.
  • Employees whose duties include driving a company vehicle, must hold a current QLD Driver’s License.

We currently have the option to Live On Island or Commute, based on skills and preferences.
