The Opportunity
An opportunity exists for an experienced Genomicist to use specialist genetic knowledge to generate and enhance the interpretative aspects of the genomic analysis and reporting pathway. Reporting to the Principal Scientist - Genome.one, this position will be responsible for prioritisation, interpretation and classification of genes and variants in relation to human disease. The Genomicist will also generate curated gene lists for specific conditions and diseases using information from existing databases, and from the literature.

- Formal qualification in genetics/genomics is required
- Higher qualification in genomics by PhD and/or Fellowship training (eg. FHGSA, FFSc, FRACP, FRCPA etc) is desired
- Strong scientific background in biology, molecular mechanisms and functional studies of genes and proteins is required
- Experience with variant assessment, classification, curation and assignment of pathogenicity is required
- Basic knowledge of database structures, programming or scripting languages desirable
- Ability to develop, manage and maintain internal and external relationships
- Highly developed skills in facilitation and meeting leadership
- Highly developed written and verbal communications skills
- Experience working with clinical pathology services
- Highly developed educational and communication skills
