The Garvan Institute is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutions with approximately 500 scientists, students and support staff working in research programs in Cancer, Diabetes & Obesity, Immunology & Inflammation, Osteoporosis, and Neuroscience. The Garvan is situated next to St Vincent's Hospital 2 km from Sydney city centre.
We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral scientist position using functional genomics approaches to study cancer. This position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Greg Neely and involves the use of cell culture and mouse models to rapidly identify and validate novel cancer drug targets. Recent relevant publications include Neely et al. (2010a) Cell, Neely et al. (2010b) Cell, Pospisilik et al. (2010) Cell, Cronin et al. (2009) Science, Imai et al. (2008) Cell, and Pospisilik et al. (2007) Cell.
The successful candidate will have a recent PhD in biological or medical science or similar, a strong publication record, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have experience using cell culture techniques and strong skills in molecular biology. Experience analysing next gen sequencing data will also be an asset.
