We are looking for a Head of Impact & Engagement, Australia who will lead a program of strategic engagement to support the achievement of The George Institute’s mission and goals.
Our Head of Impact & Engagement will build relationships with key stakeholders in Australia and the Pacific region, and will collaborate with colleagues in the UK and India on cross-regional and global initiatives.
This is an opportunity to work with researchers to improve the health of communities experiencing marginalisation in high- and low-resource contexts, and make an impact on global health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, lead and implement an engagement strategy with government stakeholders and other policymakers, including multilaterals, to help ensure TGI’s research has an impact on policy and practice
Work with civil society groups, NGOs, advocacy networks and community-based organisations, to build partnerships, amplify advocacy initiatives and centre the voices of people with lived experience
Maintain an awareness of relevant developments within government in Australia and the Pacific, and advise TGI staff and researchers on potential opportunities and challenges
Work with researchers to develop pathways to impact for their research, including opportunities for policy engagement and advocacy activities
Work with colleagues in the global Impact & Engagement team to collaborate across regions and amplify activities at the global level, to support achievement of the Institute’s strategic goals
Our ideal candidate will possess:
At least 10-15 years’ experience in policy, government relations, advocacy or similar roles in the health or related sectors, working to develop, implement and evaluate successful strategies to achieve change
An ability to think innovatively and strategically to develop solutions and identify potential opportunities, and to be creative in forging approaches and partnerships with key stakeholders
A strong ability to build and sustain relationships and networks to achieve impactful outcomes
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong managerial skills and an ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects independently, prioritizing and managing workflow and ensuring high-quality outputs
