The Opportunity

A PhD scholarship is now available for a suitably qualified individual to undertake research studies related to the Intergenerational practice and multimodal risk reduction in older adults to be completed at UNSW Sydney.

The PhD student will be a part of a team delivering a large clinical trial of intergenerational practice (bringing together older adults and preschool children) and will develop a PhD project evaluating and building on the evidence base in multidomain interventions for frailty and cognition.

The student will gain valuable training and have opportunity to interact with a diverse research team with expertise in neurology in the Global Brain Health Initiative.

Supervisor(s)

Day to day supervision will be provided by Associate Professor Ruth Peters, Program Lead for Dementia in the Global Brain Health Initiative, The George Institute for Global Health; Dr Mae Lim, Post-doctoral Research Fellow; the George Institute for Global Health.

Eligibility

Candidates must have a background in health sciences, psychology, epidemiology, allied health.

Candidates must hold a relevant first or second class Honours degree or Masters degree or, be able to demonstrate equivalent research experience

Strong communication skills and the ability to think critically and analytically are essential.

Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents are eligible to apply.

Award Amount

The Global Brain Health Initiative is offering one PhD Scholarship at $35,000 per annum (tax exempt and indexed annually) for three years subject to satisfactory progress.

It is anticipated the student will commence in Term 2, 2023.
