Context and Role
Multimorbidity is a newly launched research programme at the George Institute. One of the projects within the programme focuses on uncovering multimorbidity patterns in Indian adults using population-based surveys, hospital records, and patient cohorts. This is 5-year project funded by DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance. The Project Manager will be new independent full-time position. The Project Manager will be involved in all aspects of the project, but will primarily be responsible for data collection, management, and curation.
Reporting Relationships
The Project Manager will direcly report to Principal Investigator, Arpita Ghosh.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be expected to:
- Assit with development of tool, interviewer manual
- Software based tool validation
- Hiring of interviewers
- Manage primary data collection – plan interviews
- Work with data manager to identify indicators related to field progress, survey process, and data quality
- Conduct data review for quality control
- Conduct training of and supervise interviewers and data entry operators
- Assist with access, transfer and storage of data from hospitals
- Assist with planning and organization of dissemination activities, meeting with stakeholders
As a Team Member:
- Be responsible for the research administration and planning
- Participate in team meetings and activities
- Share field progress updates, challenges etc. on a regular basis
- Participate in special projects to improve processes, tools, systems and organisation
- Take responsibility for personal learning and development and for setting achievable and meaningful work objectives and managing personal targets, meeting obligations of the Institute’s Performance Management and Development Policy;
- Demonstrate commitment to GI’s values, including performing to an exceptionally high ethical standard and focus on integrity, collaboration and teamwork in all efforts.
As a Team Manager:
- Ensure direct reports understand and comply with GI’s Policies and procedures, standard operating practices, ethical practice (with respect to research) and the legislative environment.
- Be responsible for managing performance of direct reports, including the completion of plans and agreeing on work and personal objectives and reviewing such plans and objectives, in accordance with GI’s Performance Management and Development Policy.
- Act as a role model and ensure the team’s commitment to GI’s values, ensuring direct reports perform to a high ethical standard and focus on integrity, collaboration and teamwork in all efforts.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Masters qualification in Public Health/Social Sciences or related field
- 5-10 years’ experience as a Field Manager in an academic/health setting or related field
- Proficiency in Excel
- In-depth understanding of data management principles and public health research
- Experience of managing projects, including project resourcing and planning
- Strong focus on quality and timely delivery of work.
- Well organized with good time management skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with medium level of proficiency in English
- Ability to work well and independently, in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders
- Ability to see the big picture, whilst still maintaining a focus on detail and implementation
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments
