Salary Range of $139,108k - $143,766k Base (Pro rata for part time, dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 11.5% Superannuation + Smart Salary Packaging Benefit

The Opportunity: 

The Program Manager will take on operational leadership roles within this program. They will support the Program Director/ Senior Research Fellow in managing the program, which may involve strategic planning, teaching/mentoring, budgeting, resource management, grant applications, project oversight, reporting, policy development, and public engagement.

Additionally, the Program Manager will collaborate with internal and external partners globally to support the growth and development of the program across TGI offices in Australia, India, China and the UK.

 

 Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Contribute to the development of and oversee implementation of the strategic goals for delivery of the program.
  • Mentoring and teaching of junior staff
  • Oversee the research program implementation plans and timelines across multiple projects in the Cardiovascular Program.
  • Work with the Program Director to manage the research team staffing needs, structure, professional development, and research budgets of each program.
  • Collaborate with George Institute portfolios such as research, policy, advocacy, and impact & engagement as well as external stakeholders to increase the profile of the Cardiovascular Program.
  • Ensure the maintenance of excellent reporting in SPoT database across all phases of the projects including reporting impact for the program.
  • Foster a global mindset in each program and collaboration with staff across the regional offices.
  • Maintain contact/collaboration with existing research teams, government bodies, community members, health care professionals/groups and other external collaborators.
  • Manage and contribute to development and updating of key documents including position statements, reports, development plans, published research findings.
  • Develop, manage and monitor program research budgets in collaboration with Head of Operations and Program Director/Senior Research Fellow.
  • Manage and collaborate with the program management team to find funding opportunities and prepare funding applications.
  • Support submission of publications.
  • Actively engage with teams and stakeholders across TGI’s regions, ensuring regular and meaningful interactions to foster collaboration, address concerns, and support team development.

Our Successful Candidate  

  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position.
  • Qualifications in public health or a science related discipline and/or considerable work experience in the public health sector or medical research
  • Extensive experience with project or program management particularly overseeing multiple projects in cardiovascular.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills and experience in supervising team members, and providing guidance to peer-level colleagues.
  • Experience in research budget management of large and complex budgets from multiple and often complex funding streams.
  • Experience in strategic planning including a wide variety of stakeholder consultation.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through their actions and ability to promote a culturally safe environment.
  • Organisational experience working in multidisciplinary teams, managing relationships with external partners, and engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills building functional networks and working relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to produce communication and content for various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well flexibly, i.e. both independently and with a variety of teams.
  • A strong commitment to quality and professionalism
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
