Our mission is to improve the health of millions of people worldwide.

Justice, Equity and Dignity Initiative Coordinator

  • This role is 0.2 (FTE) initially, subject to expansion
  • Fixed Term Opportunity (6 months)
  • Location for this role is flexible, all locations will be considered (Australia, India and UK)

In 2021, TGI’s Principal and Vice Principal Directors began a conversation with a number of TGI staff and students, many of whom have a lived experience of racism and colonisation. These staff and students have a comprehensive understanding of, and interest in, acting on racism, justice, equity, intersectionality and inclusion. The aim of these conversations was to provide guidance to the organisation on how to address power imbalances and racism and move away from subtle and often unconscious practices of discrimination, which are generally accepted as normal. This newly formed team has met semi-regularly since then to discuss the way forward and has been named TGI’s Justice, Equity and Dignity (JED) team.

TGI’s Executive Leadership Team approved the launch of a request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) as a first step towards achieving TGI’s goal of assessing and addressing racism, privilege and power imbalances within the organisation. With the aim of ensuring objectivity, transparency, and excellence, a third party with experience in this field will be employed to help TGI understand how positions and discourses of privilege and dominance embedded in a range of ideologies, including white supremacy, continue to shape relationships and procedures. The aim of this organisational assessment by the consultant(s) is to inform the development and implementation of strategies to support justice, equity and dignity across TGI, at all organisational levels.

Once the third party has been selected, the JED team will act as a reference group, to help guide the successful applicant in their activities and provide additional context as required. The JED applicant will support the JED team and senior management as it implements the above-mentioned strategies.
