We are seeking an experienced Philanthropy Partnerships Manager to lead The George Institute, India’s engagement with corporates, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), including the global Indian diaspora, to grow strategic partnerships and philanthropic investment. Based in India, this role will position The George Institute as a trusted partner in evidence-based health research and innovation, building meaningful collaborations with partners that align with corporate social responsibility priorities and shared value outcomes.

The George Institute India

 

The George Institute, a wholly owned legal not-for-profit Indian research institute, has been conducting research related activities in India since 2002. The George Institute India’s mission mirrors that of the parent organization, namely the discovery and implementation of solutions to chronic and disabling health problems through research, policy development and capacity building.

 

A number of large-scale projects in population, health systems and clinical research, funded by a diverse group of sponsors, both public and private, are conducted in India. The George Institute India comprises two distinct operating groups: Research and Development, and Infrastructure and Resources. It has two separate offices - in Hyderabad and New Delhi, where the research staff and senior management are based.

 

Context and Role

 

The Philanthropy Partnerships Manager will be responsible for expanding The George Institute’s corporate and philanthropic funding base in India, while nurturing trusted relationships with existing partners.

This role will work in close alignment with the global fundraising team and to execute targeted partner strategies in India, ensuring consistency with The George Institute’s international philanthropy strategy.

 

Reporting Relationships

 

This role reports directly to the Head of Fundraising, Global, with a dotted reporting line to the Executive Director, The George Institute India, to ensure close alignment with regional strategy and priorities.

 

Duties and Key Responsibilities

 

The Philanthropy Partnerships Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with Indian corporates, CSR heads, corporate and philanthropic foundations, and HNWIs aligned with our mission.
  • Develop tailored engagement strategies, compelling proposals and pitch presentations to secure funding and long-term partnerships.
  • Support stewardship of existing partners and donors, delivering timely updates, reports, engagement opportunities and both virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Represent The George Institute at relevant sector events, forums, and meetings with current and prospective partners and donors.
  • Monitor and respond to relevant CSR policy and compliance requirements under Indian law.
  • Work closely with the global Philanthropy Team, researchers and Senior Leadership to align messaging, relationships and strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activity and opportunities using the CRM.

 

 Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 7 years experience working in senior account management, relationship management, client services, or a similar role within corporate partnerships, preferably in the not-for-profit or health sectors.
  • Proven track record in securing corporate and philanthropic funding in India, particularly through CSR channels.
  • Strong understanding of Indian CSR regulations and corporate giving trends.
  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills, with a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation delivery.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across global teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM systems, eg. SalesForce

 

Desirable:

  • Passion for health equity, social impact, and evidence-based innovation.
  • Experience working in or with international development, health, or research organisations preferred.
