Pro-Rata Salary Range of $96,900 Base to $107,400 Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities). Plus 12% Superannuation and access to Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging with a value of up to $15,900. 

 

The RESist-NCD: Building resilient and people-centred health systems for non-communicable disease prevention and control in Pacific and Southeast Asian countries program, supported by the Australian Government Partnerships for a Healthy Region initiative, comprises a comprehensive program of work to support governments, civil society organisations and community in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia to develop and evaluate interventions for the prevention and management of diabetes and hypertension (a key cardiovascular disease risk factor).

 

The Guunu-maana (Heal) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program at The George Institute leads efforts to strengthen and promote consideration of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), as well as Indigenous knowledges, within all activities of the RESist-NCD program, including within the ways of working of the RESist-NCD consortium.

 

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Project Officer to support RESist-NCD program implementation. This role is positioned within the Guunu-maana (Heal) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program.

 

 Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to manage contracts and administrative tasks.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking milestones and managing program tools.
  • Keep program tracking tools and systems up to date.
  • Assist the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Coordinator by liaising with country teams, managing MEL data centrally, and reporting on program impact.
  • Prepare and manage research ethics submissions related to RESist-NCD activities.
  • Support budget tracking and expenditure processes with the Program and GEDSI Coordinators.
  • Help develop terms of reference for governance committees.
  • Assist in drafting and finalising milestone reports and budget acquittals for the funder.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings for the RESist-NCD Working Group and governance committees, including minute-taking and action tracking.
  • Maintain program data in the SPoT database and generate regular reports to monitor progress.
  • Manage program communications, including website content and impact case studies.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate  

  • Tertiary qualification in public health, international development, or a related field
  • Proven experience in implementing projects, preferably in the health sector or public health programs.
  • Experience working on projects with multiple interest-holders
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural and collaborative environments
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including the production of written materials for a public audience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Highly competent with budget monitoring
  • Highly competent with database administration and maintenance
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team
  • Strong focus on quality of work and maintenance of excellent records
  • Takes initiative to identify and action opportunities to improve processes or impact
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments

Desirable

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant post-graduation experience
  • Hold an understanding of diabetes and hypertension prevention and control strategies
  • Hold an understanding of Gender equality, Disability equity and Social Inclusion principles
  • Experience with the administrative requirements of projects funded by multilateral or government agencies
  • Experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care, research or community programs.
