Pro-Rata Salary Range of $85,600k Base to $95k Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities)

Plus 12% Superannuation and access to Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging with a value of up to $15,900.  (more information provided below). 

The Global Brain Health initiative (GBHI) by TGI is a research program dedicated to improving and maintaining healthy brain function throughout life. It addresses the growing global challenge of age-related brain diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, and stroke, which are becoming more prevalent as populations age.

 

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a Research Assistant to be included into our team working on dementia and healthy cardiovascular ageing within a larger, well-established research group. The role supports clinical trials focused on intergenerational programs that bring together older adults and preschool children to create mutual benefits for both age groups.

Our successful candidate will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check.

 

 Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Identify and address bias in participant recruitment and assessment and assist with conducting assessments
  • Accurately complete research tasks following study protocols, including face to face assessments with older adults and preschool children in community settings
  • Attend and support intergenerational sessions, assist participants and manage equipment setup and pack down
  • Enter, clean and organise data using software such as Excel, SPSS, R or Python,
  • Prepare research evidence appraisals, reports, presentations and summaries
  • Assist in drafting manuscripts, grant proposals and conference papers
  • Conduct literature searches and support grant application preparation
  • Collate study materials and contribute to peer-reviewed journal article drafts
  • Contribute with ethics applications and related documentation
  • Provide administrative and general support to the research team as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate  

  • A degree in exercise physiology, psychology, health or allied fields.
  • Experience working with older adults and/or children.
  • Experience in clinical research including clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated understanding of potential sources of bias inherent in data collection and cognitive testing and experience in carrying out research assessments with study participants.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage with stakeholders across various levels
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments.
  • Completion of Good Clinical Practice with a valid certificate (up to 3 years)
  • Experience in intergenerational research
  • Experience with using software like SPSS, R, or Python to carry out analyses for clinical or health research outcomes.
  • Experience in drafting research manuscripts and or grant applications
  • Up-to-date vaccination for COVID-19 is a requirement
  • Availability and willingness to travel.
  • A valid up-to-date working with children check is required.
