  • From $70,395 pa (inc Superannuation)

THE POSITION
This position will provide administrative support to the Director of Place and Growth (P&G) and other managers within the Department of Place and Growth. 
 
Reporting to the Director of Place and Growth you will: 
  • Provide advanced level administrative and personal support to the Director of Place and Growth to meet strict deadlines and achieve goals. 
  • Coordinate, draft, compile and publish a broad range of correspondence and documentation to meet organisational and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain and improve the Department’s webpages on Council’s website by working co-operatively with key team members and managerial staff to ensure information is up-to-date, relevant and easily found.
  • Implement, monitor and review Council’s policies relevant to this position. 
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for Committees of Council and other meetings.
  • Maintain an awareness of relevant legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the area of responsibility and ensures that all work complies with such requirements. 
  • Ensure that information and records are maintained and stored in accordance with relevant policies and procedures, in consultation with Council’s Records Supervisor. 
  • Ensure that strict confidentiality is maintained, and privacy principles are adhered to in regard to confidential meeting business and other confidential or private business dealings. 
  • Assist Department of Place and Growth staff with enquiries and administrative support relating to town planning, building certification, ranger duties, waste management services, economic development/tourism and events, customer service (Church Street front counter and Highlands Hub), cemeteries and recreation and open spaces.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Specifically, you will have:
 
Essential 
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in the provision of quality administrative services in a multi-disciplinary business environment
  • Superior organisational skills, with the ability to effectively plan and coordinate activities and tasks involving multiple resources and stakeholders
  • Highly effective interpersonal / oral communication skills and effective business writing skills
  • Proven ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and / or confidential information and apply relevant privacy principles
  • Advanced computer skills in word processing, Excel spread sheets, Internet and email, plus intermediate skills in PowerPoint and Publisher

Desirable 

  • Diploma of Business Administration, Secretarial Studies or the equivalent
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 local government accounting software and / or ECM records management software
  • Knowledge of MapInfo or Arcgis geographical information system
  • Class C driver’s licence (car licence)
