THE POSITION The Production Coordinator will assist the Quarry Manager to operate and maintain Glen Innes Aggregates.
Reporting to Quarry Manager, you will:
Operations
Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Quarry operations to ensure production targets are met and that minimum stockpile quantities are maintained.
Advise the Quarry Manager of any issues that may negatively impact on production levels or material quality.
Attend monthly safety/site meetings and chair when required.
Ensure that stockpiles are tidy, safe and identifiable.
Liaise with subcontractors on site to coordinate production e.g. crushing, drilling and blasting contractors, including site supervision as required by the Quarry Manager.
Manage coordination of delivery services, including contracted services.
Co-ordinate maintenance activities and liaise with the Workshop Supervisor for mobile plant repairs and maintenance, including assisting with maintenance of mobile plant.
Assist with work such as stripping overburden, precoating metal etc.
Assist with loading of customers with front end loader or bobcat or excavator.
Mix up bulk products such as DGB 20 with Excavator or Loader.
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), Environment, Quality and Risk Management
Ensure the safety of all employees and / or contractors engaged in works under this position’s control, in accordance with Council’s WHS policies, Corporate WHS Management Plan and Mine Safety Management Plan.
Coordinate morning toolbox talks with GIA staff and contractors to ensure all persons on site are aware of the daily site activities.
Implement and assist the Quarry Manager to review, the quality and environmental plans and procedures and the Mine Safety Management Plan.
Identify hazards in the quarry, undertake risk assessments and implement appropriate and effective control measures.
Ensure that hazardous substances and dangerous goods are handled and stored in accordance with manufacturer and health and safety specifications, including requesting Material Data Sheets (MDS) or other relevant documentation at time of supply or delivery.
Monitor work to ensure it conforms to regulations governing air, water and noise pollution.
Advise the Quarry Manager of any compliance issues in relation to safety policies, systems, procedures, regulations and standards.
Assist the Quarry Manager to sample and test materials for compliance with specifications.
Ensure that any vehicle / plant item used in area of control is operated in a safe manner, kept in a clean and tidy condition, and that daily and weekly maintenance is carried out as determined by the Workshop Supervisor and recommended in plant operating manuals.
Administration
Comply with Corporate record keeping requirements.
Assist the Quarry Manager to calculate and submit tenders to the Transport for NSW and various other councils for supply and delivery of products.
Operate plant and equipment when required, and carry out appropriate maintenance and safety checks before, during and after operation.
Ensure and monitor the security of Council property in areas of control.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Specifically, you will have:
Essential
Experience in quarrying or civil operations
Relevant qualifications
Ability to coordinate work activities to maintain productivity, including the site supervision of contractors
Demonstrated relevant literacy and mathematical skills
Ability to implement and monitor safety, environmental, risk management and quality control within quarrying operations
MR (Medium Rigid) Drivers licence
Desirable
HR (Heavy Rigid) Drivers licence
Intermediate computer literacy skills including Microsoft 365 suite, email and internet.
Operation of various mobile plant: Front End Loader, Skidsteer, Excavator
NSW Above Ground Mine Production Managers Certificate of Competence
