About the Role

As Finance Officer, you’ll report to the Financial Accountant and contribute to the effective financial operations of Council. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reconciling Council bank accounts and investigating variances
  • Recording grant receipts and maintaining direct debit registers
  • Assisting with budget preparation and reviews
  • Supporting the preparation of financial statements and statutory returns (e.g. ABS, FBT, GST)
  • Participating in audits and financial investigations
  • Processing journal entries and reconciling credit card statements
  • Contributing to process improvements and providing backup support across the Finance team

 

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in financial reconciliations and reporting
  • Strong financial administration skills (costing, invoicing, budgeting)
  • Effective communication and mathematical skills
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced spreadsheets
  • Working knowledge of GST

Desirable:

  • Certificate III or higher in Accounting or related field
  • Familiarity with NSW Local Government accounting principles and systems (e.g. Civica, Open Office)
  • Class C driver’s licence
