About the Role
As Finance Officer, you’ll report to the Financial Accountant and contribute to the effective financial operations of Council. Your responsibilities will include:
Reconciling Council bank accounts and investigating variances
Recording grant receipts and maintaining direct debit registers
Assisting with budget preparation and reviews
Supporting the preparation of financial statements and statutory returns (e.g. ABS, FBT, GST)
Participating in audits and financial investigations
Processing journal entries and reconciling credit card statements
Contributing to process improvements and providing backup support across the Finance team
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Experience in financial reconciliations and reporting
Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced spreadsheets
Working knowledge of GST
Desirable:
Certificate III or higher in Accounting or related field
Familiarity with NSW Local Government accounting principles and systems (e.g. Civica, Open Office)
Class C driver’s licence
