About the Role

As a Relief Heavy Plant Operator, you will:

  • Operate and maintain heavy plant including excavators, graders, backhoes, trucks, and skid steer loaders
  • Assist in the safe and efficient construction and maintenance of Council’s civil infrastructure
  • Perform daily pre-start checks and routine maintenance
  • Support road construction, grading, drainage works, and restoration tasks
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and Council procedures

What You’ll Need

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience operating heavy plant in civil construction or maintenance
  • Current NSW Class HR Driver’s Licence
  • WHS General Construction Induction (White Card)
  • Sound knowledge of WHS practices and plant safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Class HC Driver’s Licence
  • Relevant plant operation tickets (excavator, grader, roller)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience in local government or public works
  • Certificates in Traffic Control, Chainsaw Operations, Chemical Use, and more
