About the Role
As an Apprentice Gardener, you’ll learn hands‑on skills while completing a Certificate III in Horticulture. You’ll work across parks, sporting fields, reserves and community spaces, supporting the team to keep our region looking its best.
What You’ll Be Doing
Participate in on‑the‑job and off‑the‑job training to complete your qualification
Learn to operate tractors, ride‑on mowers and hand mowers
Use whipper snippers, brush cutters and other minor plant under supervision
Assist with transporting tools, materials and garden waste
Help with daily safety checks and maintenance of plant and equipment
Support workshop staff with routine repairs and servicing
Assist with applying herbicides and pesticides
Help propagate, fertilise, water, weed and transplant plants
Support maintenance of pathways, fences, playgrounds, irrigation and other facilities
Participate in pruning and lopping shrubs and trees
Help maintain CBD and Church Street Median Strip to Platinum standard
Empty public rubbish bins as required
Assist with manual grave digging and cemetery site preparation
Follow environmental regulations and report issues
Maintain timesheets, maintenance logs and WHS records
About You
You’re someone who is eager to learn, reliable and ready to take on a hands‑on outdoor role. You will bring:
Motivation to learn new skills and complete part‑time study
Good communication skills
Sound maths skills for measuring, calculating and problem‑solving
Ability to follow written instructions and complete records accurately
Basic computer skills (email, internet, Word, Excel)
Class C or P driver’s licence (manual)
White Card (Safework NSW General Construction Induction)
