Council is seeking suitably qualified persons to fill the casual positions of Swimming Pool Lifeguard, Swimming Pool Attendant (Learn to Swim) and Swimming Pool Attendant (Kiosk & Facilities) at the Glen Innes Swim Centre, for the 2021/2022 swimming season.

It’s an offence for a person convicted of a serious sex offence or a Registrable Person under the Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act to apply for these roles. Employment screening, Working with Children Checks and National Criminal History Checks apply.

Reporting to the Aquatic Centre Operator, you will:

  • Admit customers to the pool and issue and record ticket book sales.
  • Collect and balance pool takings, under the supervision of the Aquatic Centre Operator.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks under the supervision of the Aquatic Centre Operator, including servicing of plant, equipment and other infrastructure.
  • Issue pool equipment to customers as requested and ensure that equipment is returned and stored correctly.
  • Coves the pool at the end of the day and remove and store pool covers, as required.
  • Pick up rubbish in the pool grounds and place rubbish in appropriate containers.
  • Set up pool furniture at the commencement of each day and fold and store furniture at days end, as required.

Specifically, you will have:

Essential Criteria – All positions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to people of all age groups.
  • Genuine commitment and enthusiasm to work in a customer focused environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work weekends as required.
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised.

Desirable Criteria – Kiosk & Facilities

  • Previous experience in a kiosk or similar role
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Knowledge of manual handling practices and techniques
  • Working knowledge of stock control and cash register operations
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately perform monetary transactions

Desirable Criteria – Lifeguard

  • Ability to accurately apply basic mathematical principles
  • Ability to swim a minimum of 200 metres
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Previous experience working at a public or commercial swimming pool
  • Class C Driver’s licence (car licence)
  • AUSTSWIM certification
  • Pool Lifeguard Qualifications

Desirable Criteria – Learn to Swim Teacher

  • Previous experience working at a public or commercial swimming pool
  • AUSTSWIM certification
  • Previous experience as a learn to swim teacher
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Pool Lifeguard Qualifications
