Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is one of Queensland’s leading ports, supporting jobs, trade, and regional communities. We’re now looking for motivated, safety-focused applicants to join our 2027 traineeship intake.

 

This is an identified position open to First Nations and Australian South Sea Islander applicants.

 

In this role, you’ll work towards a Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation while gaining hands-on experience across a range of operational areas.

 

About the Traineeship

 

This is a structured, two-year traineeship combining on-the-job training with formal study through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

 

You’ll rotate through key areas including:

 

  • Building Services
  • Administration
  • Parks & Gardens
  • Warehouse

 

You’ll be supported by supervisors, trainers, and the Mentor & Liaison Officer as you build practical skills and confidence.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

As a trainee, you will support day-to-day operations by:

 

  • Following your training plan and learning standard tasks and procedures
  • Working safely and reporting any hazards or issues
  • Carrying out tasks according to schedules and priorities
  • Recording your work and activities using digital systems
  • Completing regular daily, weekly, and monthly tasks with guidance from supervisors
  • Assisting with environmental practices to help minimise impacts
  • Interacting politely with community members when needed
  • Keeping tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in good condition

 

About You

Eligibility Criteria

 

Mandatory:

 

  • This is an identified position and is open to First Nations or Australian South Sea Islander applicants
  • Must be 18 years of age to hold a high risk work licence
  • Current driver licence (minimum provisional licence held for at least 12 months)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

 

Desirable:

 

  • Demonstrated interest in practical work, maintenance, administration or warehousing
