Marist College Ashgrove is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys in Years 5-12, situated in Brisbane's inner Northern suburbs. The college has a vacancy for a Gardener/Grounds person. This is a full-time continuing position. Payment is based according to the Services Level 1/1 of the Catholic Employing Authorities Single Enterprise Agreement – RI schools of Qld 2019 - 2023 classification.  Normal hours will be 76 hours per fortnight, starting and finishing times will be 6:30am–2:36pm, including a half hour unpaid meal break.  Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications (Cert III in Parks and Gardens or Horticulture) and experience in this area will be highly regarded.  If you do not have these qualifications, the College is happy to support you in attaining them.

This is an active and physical position on the team that maintains the school gardens and grounds to a high standard.

Essential Criteria

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Manual Car licence
  • Valid Blue Card
  • Demonstrated capacity to work well in a team and unsupervised
  • Fit and able to carry out physically demanding work
  • General grounds and gardens maintenance including the operation of small plant machinery including and not limited to, mowers, brush-cutters, blowers, hedger etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Similar background work history preferred
  • Commitment to the Catholic and Marist ethos of the College
