About the role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Finance Manager works closely with the CFO to oversee the financial and management reporting of the business, provide operational leadership to the Finance team, and manage all aspects of the Finance department. The role will also work with the Business Performance department to provide commercial and analytical support to members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and operational leads, to ensure that business operations achieve agreed key performance indicators.

The position is based at our Morphett Street office and offers hybrid working arrangements enabling you to partially work from home.

Responsibilities include:

  • In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, develop key performance indicators for the Finance team and its individual members; monitor and report on staff performance.
  • Ensure team members are proficient in using financial software and demonstrate high levels of data integrity and attention to detail.
  • Under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, prepare the annual budget, rolling 5 year financial plan and forecast.
  • Contribute to the development of the Corporate Services department business plans.
  • Provide timely and accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports; with high level commentary to explain financial results based on understanding of operational performance and trends.
  • Proactively consult across the organisation to gain a strong understanding of business operations and provide reporting, advice and coaching to support sound financial decision making.
  • Ensure finance processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner, including GL, AP and AR.
  • Ensure compliance with financial legislation, standards and regulations and preparation of associated statements and returns, including Accounting Standards, GST, FBT, PAYG, Superannuation and grant acquittals.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, work with external auditors to prepare general purpose statutory financial statements and complete the annual external financial audit.

About You

You’re an experienced and collaborative professional with the following attributes:

  • Proven experience in senior accounting financial management role in a commercial business, with demonstrated experience in management accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, end of month financial reporting, cash management and preparation of dashboards to measure/analyse performance metrics.
  • Sound knowledge of the full finance function; from preparation of general ledger tasks to delivery of high-level reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience of core financial controls, accounting standards, tax laws and other financial regulations.
  • Ability to provide accurate reports and effective commentary that informs the organisation on how it can improve performance.
  • Demonstrated communication skills both verbal and written, along with sound interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project coordination and/or delivery.
  • High level of computer literacy; including advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading and managing a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
