Hosts for People with Disability and Older People

Location: Cannon Hill, Tingalpa, Springfield, Bald Hills, Ipswich

Seeking outstanding and supportive individuals, couples and families to become hosts in the following Areas: 

  • Cannon Hill or neighbouring suburb - to provide a host home for a 7 year old boy with a disability
  • Tingalpa or neighbouring suburb - to provide a host home for a 7 year old boy with a disability
  • Springfield or  neighbouring suburb - to provide a host home for 16 year old girl with a disability
  • Bald Hills or neighbouring suburb - to provide a host home for 19 year old woman with a disability (Respite)
  • North and South Brisbane Suburbs (Respite)
  • Ipwsich and Surrounding suburbs (Respite)

As a host you will provide support needs at home and in the community, as part of a broader support network.  Arrangements range from short weekend stays (respite) to interim stays, or longer term.

You will have access to 24/7 support and training that is relevant to the person’s needs to successfully host someone in your home.  You may consider providing this service as a volunteer whereby a generous reimbursement is made for expenses or as a paid contractor for short term stays, with our guidance.

You do not necessarily need experience in disability support however if you have relevant experience, this would be highly regarded.

Requirements:

  • Car Insurance
  • Own vehicle
  • First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Card)
  • NDIS Disability Workers Screening Clearance / Yellow Card (or willing to obtain)
  • NDIS Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Driver's Licence
  • Able to provide a smoke free environment
