Your new role

We are currently seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Housing Support & Outreach Worker to join our regional site based in Shepparton on a Part-Time basis. We are seeking candidates with excellent communication skills who can build rapport with those who are socially isolated within the community. You will have a non-judgmental attitude, the ability to liaise with people form varying socioeconomic backgrounds, and experience working with both socially isolated people and people with challenging behaviours. The role will cover 26.6 hours per week over a minimum of 4 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). We offer flexible scheduling from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm to promote work-life balance and cater to individual preferences.

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

• Assessing potential clients, taking into account their history, circumstances and preferences
• Coordinating the referral, nomination and housing support to a number of clients living in transitional housing properties and assisting them to obtain long-term accommodation and support services
• Encouraging and supporting clients to make decisions regarding their use of services and to manage their own health and welfare needs
• Enhance the social contact of isolated clients by providing social support or linking and referring them into social and recreational activities

We are looking for candidates with the following:

• A qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences, Welfare or equivalent
• Outreach skills including the ability to locate and establish rapport with both socially isolated people and people with challenging behaviours.
• Experience in working effectively and sensitively with a broad range of clients, including those with high support needs and challenging behaviours
• An understanding of the Housing and Homelessness Service sector My Aged Care, NDIS and other relevant service systems.
• A current drivers licence, and reliable vehicle
• Proven commitment to excellence, accountability and innovation in best practice service delivery in the fields of homelessness and housing support.
• Well-developed communication skills and the ability to engage with people from varying backgrounds.
• First Aid Certificate
