What You will be Doing
1. Sourcing & Procurement:
- Identify and source new products and suppliers to expand the range of fresh groceries (vegetables, meat, seafood, etc.).
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and quality standards with suppliers to maximize value and ensure quality.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences.
2. Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory levels to ensure product freshness and availability, avoiding stockouts or overstocking.
- Monitor and analyze product performance, making adjustment plans accordingly for seasonal and demand changes.
- Coordinate closely with suppliers and the logistics team to streamline supply chains and ensure timely delivery.
3. Quality Control & Disposal Management:
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure freshness and adherence to the company’s standards.
- Develop and implement disposal strategies for unsold or expired products, minimizing waste and ensuring compliance with company policies.
4. Supplier Relationships & Cost Optimization:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
- Drive cost optimization without compromising on quality, ensuring a competitive edge in pricing strategies.
- Monitor pricing and profitability, maintaining competitive gross margins for the respective categories.
5. Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direction and mentorship to buyers, supporting their growth and enhancing team performance.
- Lead initiatives to improve processes, manage risks, and drive category growth.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure category strategies align with overall business objectives.
Who is Our Right Fit
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fresh food buying, category management, or procurement.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and managing fresh produce, meat, or seafood.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
