Highline Manufacturing is looking for an experienced, creative and hands-on Design Engineer to join our team in Vonda, SK!

The focus of Highline’s R&D Engineering team is to design unique new products and make improvements to existing products in order to add value and solve problems for our customers. Highline Manufacturing, a division of Bourgault Industries, is one of only a few Western Canadian agricultural equipment manufacturers that design self-propelled equipment, with our Accumix line of feed mixers.

This position involves all aspects of product design, including concept development, 3D modeling, prototype assembly support, testing, production support, and marketing support. Our ideal candidate is hands-on, creative and adaptable, with a proven ability to use his or her ag knowledge in all aspects of the design process.

Responsibilities:

• Develop computer models of new product components or modify existing products/components
• Conduct design analysis and refinement
• Create drawings of new components for prototype fabrication
• Communicate with vendors to specify and obtain outsourced components
• Set up and modify existing BOM structures within our MRP software
• Support prototype assembly and testing
• Plan production releases and provide production support
• Design tooling for products as required
• Communicate with other teams (purchasing, manufacturing, service, etc.) for new product integration
• Communicate with dealers and customers for feedback and input on product
• Participate in marketing events (trade shows, demos, etc.)
• Provide field service support
• Occasional travel to various test locations.

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree in the mechanical or agricultural field
  
• Minimum of 3 years of design experience
• Project management experience
• A strong knowledge of and interest in current farming practices and related technology (experience with cattle, design of livestock feeding equipment, and/or design of self-propelled equipment are strong assets!)
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
• Experience with Algor or similar FEA packages
• Experience with metal fabrication and the latest manufacturing techniques
• Ability to balance multiple priorities
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work both work independently and as part of a team
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to think critically and analytically to solve problems
• A good balance of practical experience and proven creativity
