Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania
Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing, community care and NDIS services.
Your new role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and tight-knit Payroll Team as a Payroll Officer at our Head Office in North Melbourne. This Full Time role reports to the Payroll Services Manager. In this engaging position you will be assisting with payroll and salary packaging functions and responsibilities, in a manner that will deliver an efficient and accurate payroll service to the management and staff of Wintringham.
Your duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)
- End to end payroll processing in accordance with legislations and company procedures
- Onboarding new employees and enter contract variations
- Processing termination requests and payments
- Processing salary packaging arrangements and salary deductions
- Ensuring payroll related queries are handled in a courteous and timely manner
- Calculating overpayments and monitoring recoveries
- Processing month-end reports and super payments
- Assist with payroll related projects and process improvement initiatives
- Assisting with Portable Long Service calculations and lodgements

We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Minimum three (3) years of payroll processing experience
- Salary packaging processing experience
- Ability to work autonomously, while being part of a team
- Experience in working with EBA's
- Experience with PayGlobal payroll system will be highly regarded, however not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to provide timely and efficient services, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and pragmatically with a diverse range of people, from varying backgrounds.
- Commitment to always maintaining strict confidentiality in relation to staff, clients and housing residents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed IT skills - Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- Strong awareness of relevant legislative standards and guidelines.
