Who are we?

Wintringham is a specialist not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.  We employ over 1000 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing and community care services.

 

Your new role

An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and proactive individual to join our expanding Finance Team at our Head Office as the Full Time Senior Accounts Officer.  Reporting to the Financial Accountant, in this dynamic and multifaceted role you will be responsible for transactional, project related and ad-hoc tasks within the finance function. This Fixed Term position will run from the 1st of February 2025 to the 1st of February 2026.

 

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the below:

  • Assist with the daily, weekly and monthly accounts process including but not limited balance sheet reconciliations and processing journals
  • Maintain bank related registers
  • Interact and engage with clients and their representatives
  • Assist with Finance related projects and ad-hoc tasks
  • Participate in the continuous improvement cycle, by proactively identifying and raising improvements through Wintringham’s quality systems
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to the role as defined in the relevant policies and procedures
  • Practice open communication and proactively participate in problem solving, where issues or areas of disagreement arise

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

You are an experienced accountant with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with your team. Your skills will be supported by possessing the following:

  • An understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft applications. E.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience in co-ordinating and prioritising tasks
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a finance team
