Who are we?

Wintringham is a specialist not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.  We employ over 1000 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne, Regional Victoria, and Tasmania. Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing and community care services.

 

Your new role

An exciting opportunity exists within our Accounts Payable team for a committed and proactive individual to join our expanding Finance Team at our Head Office as a Part Time Accounts Officer.  Reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Leader, the Accounts Officer will be responsible for completing various tasks for the Accounts Payable team at Wintringham.  This position is an excellent opportunity to further develop your understanding of accounting processes and procedures.

 

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the below:

  • Assist in the processing of financial transactions
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly processing and reporting timetables, including processing of journals and supporting data
  • Develop an understanding of all Accounts Officer roles to provide backup relief
  • Provide administrative support to senior finance staff
  • Participate in the continuous improvement cycle, by proactively identifying and raising improvements through Wintringham’s quality systems
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to the role as defined in the relevant policies and procedures
  • Practice open communication and proactively participate in problem solving, where issues or areas of disagreement arise
  • Understand and adhere to Wintringham’s Code of Conduct
  • Other ad-hoc projects and duties as directed by the Accounts Payable Team Leader and the Finance Operations Manager

We are looking for candidates with the following:

 

You are an experienced accounts officer with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with your team. Your skills will be supported by possessing the following:

  • Experience with Microsoft applications. E.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience working within a finance team
