Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.
Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities which assist an older person to retain their chosen lifestyles, habits, and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.
Your new role
Wintringham is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to take on weekday shifts at our Hobart Aged Care Facility on a Full Time Basis. In this engaging role you will coordinate and continually develop a recreation program, designed to meet the individual leisure needs of each resident.
Your fortnightly roster will be as below:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (0900 – 1706)
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (0900 – 1706)
Your responsibilities and duties include:
- Co-ordinating, facilitating and continually developing a recreation program designed to meet the individual leisure needs of each client whilst maximising their recreational independence.
- Supervise and support other members of the recreation team regarding structure and development of programs.
- Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts
- Ensuring that accurate and relevant documentation is up to date
- Promoting recreational opportunities available within the broader community
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Experience within the social sector or a degree qualification (looked upon favourably) in Leisure and Lifestyle, Psychology, Community Development or a similar discipline
- Current drivers licence (mandatory)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates will be looked on favourably
- Experience in working with older people
- Experience in recreational program planning and implementation
- Knowledge of local area and services
- Knowledge of and ability to utilise community groups and resources.
