Who are we?

Wintringham is a specialist not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.  We employ over 1000 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing and community care services.

 

Your new role

An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and proactive individual to join our expanding Finance Team at our Head Office as the Full Time Finance Officer.  Reporting to the Financial Accountant, in this dynamic and multifaceted role you will be responsible monthly transactional tasks within the finance function.

 

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the below:

  • Assist in the processing of financial transactions
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly processing and reporting timetables, including processing of journals and supporting data
  • Process and reconcile income and funding related to a designated business area
  • Interact and engage with government funding bodies
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining high attention to detail in all aspects of financial operations.
  • Assist in meeting financial processing and reporting deadlines by supporting daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, including the entry of journals and relevant financial data.
  • Manage income and funding reconciliation for specific business units or departments, ensuring financial accuracy and consistency.
  • Liaise with govt funding agencies, as needed, ensuring effective communication, compliance with funding requirements and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Efficiently manage the processing of admissions and discharges, ensuring smooth operational flow and accurate record-keeping.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly client statements in a clear, concise, and timely manner, ensuring clients receive accurate financial information.
  • Draft professional correspondence to prospective residential clients, providing detailed information on entry fees and other relevant financial matters.
  • Develop an understanding of all Finance Officer roles to provide backup relief
  • Participate in the continuous improvement cycle, by proactively identifying and raising improvements through Wintringham’s quality systems
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to the role as defined in the relevant policies and procedures
  • Practice open communication and proactively participate in problem solving, where issues or areas of disagreement arise

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

You are an experienced accountant with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with your team. Your skills will be supported by possessing the following:

  • Experience with Microsoft applications. E.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience working within a finance team
