Senior Interior Designer (Parental Leave Cover)

We are looking for a passionate, proactive and creative Senior Interior Designer to join our Sydney or Melbourne Studio for a 12 month parental leave cover with the possibility to extend longer. Flexible or part time working arrangement would be considered.

As a Senior Interior Designer, you will have worked across a variety of small to large projects and enjoy taking ownership of projects, leading design outcomes and working closely with clients and delivery teams to create high-quality, contemporary interior environments.

You’ll be joining an Architecture and Design practice with studios across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Operating as a national collective of design professionals, we draw on the knowledge and individual talents of our entire team. Whether it be our own studio culture or the impact our designs have on the wider community, inspiring ideas to enhance life experience is at the core of our practice.

Interested in joining our team? You'll be:

  • Taking a lead role on projects from early concept through to handover
  • Partnering with clients to translate needs into considered, functional design solutions
  • Managing design programmes, budgets, and consultant coordination
  • Working closely with construction and delivery teams to ensure design intent is maintained
  • Providing guidance and direction to junior designers
  • Preparing and reviewing detailed documentation, FF&E schedules, and specifications
  • Attending site, responding to RFIs, and assisting with contract services
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of design processes and standards
  • Preparing fee proposals and managing of financial metrics
  • Liaising with existing and new clients, attending networking events and contributing to internal sales targets

Ideally, you will have experience leading of a team and covering all aspects of the design process including concept design and design development and construction documentation

Expertise

  • Great working knowledge of the Australian industry
  • Solid understanding of Australian codes, consultant coordination, and construction processes
  • 8+ years’ experience in interior design operating at Associate or Senior Designer level
  • Team focused leadership approach, respectful and patient with the wider team and an eye for team development
  • Good technical knowledge and confidence delivering detailed documentation
  • Advanced SketchUp skills
  • Working knowledge of Revit highly regarded
  • Comfortable managing client relationships and project teams
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Interior Design or Architecture
  • Established experience in medium to large scale projects in a variety of sectors. Experience in the Retail sector is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering designs from briefing to project handover
  • Solution focused, with a demonstrated proactive and collaborative approach to projects, clients and teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to proactively communicate and manage clients, consultants and internal team members to achieve desired outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage and oversee multiple projects at once
  • Preparation of fee proposals and management of financial metrics
