About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to lead our motivated and collaborative Ranger team at Bathurst Regional Council. The Senior Ranger will have a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a compliance role and be motivated to implement policies, procedures and programs that both educate the community and assist Council in implementing it’s regulatory responsibilities for companion animals, parking enforcement and unattended property.

It is required the successful candidate will be an excellent communicator as they will provide technical and policy advice to persons of all levels and be confident in negotiating conflict to achieve satisfactory outcomes.

Candidates must be available to work on weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis and to participate on an on-call roster.

Key Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent and a least five year’s experience in a compliance role
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage difficult customers and resolve conflict or disputes between stakeholders
  • Ability and experience in training, leading and motivating staff
  • Organised and able to allocate resources to achieve adopted customer service standards
  • Solid working knowledge of the Companion Animals Act 1998, Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021, Local Government Act 1993 and Australian Road Rules 2014
  • Demonstrated experience in issuing penalty infringement notices and the preparation of notices and orders
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and review of briefs of evidence
  • Intermediate user of MS Word, Excel and internet based programs
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills
  • Class C NSW Drivers Licence

This position requires a criminal history check and a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,615.10 to $1,696.99 per week + superannuation + on call allowance (when applicable)

Position Status: Permanent full-time

Hours of work: 38 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.39pm, 30 minutes for lunch with a RDO every third week and a on-call rotating roster as required
