Please download and read the IPC Health's Code of Conduct before going any further. IPC Health takes the conduct of our team very seriously and you will be asked to confirm your acknowledgment and understanding of this code before you can submit your onboarding information.

Volunteer Rights and Responsibilities 

Unlike paid staff, volunteers are not covered by awards or work-place agreements.

Volunteers however do have rights, some which are enshrined in legislation and some which could be considered the moral obligations of an organisation involving volunteers.

IPC Health promotes the following as the basic rights of a volunteer.

Your rights -
As a volunteer you have the right to:

  • A healthy and safe environment
  • An orientation or induction session
  • Information about the organisation you are working for, including policies and procedures
  • A volunteer position description or volunteer agreement which outlines the tasks that you will be expected to perform and the agreed working hours
  • Be provided with sufficient training and supervision
  • Receive recognition for the work you do
  • Be reimbursed for necessary out of pocket expenses
  • Be protected by appropriate insurance
  • Know why you are doing things
  • Have your personal information dealt with in a confidential manner
  • Take holidays
  • Say 'no' if you are uncomfortable or feel you are being exploited
  • Be informed and consulted on matters which affect you and your work.

Your responsibilities -
As a volunteer of IPC Health, you are expected to:

  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Carry out the duties listed in your volunteer position description
  • Be accountable
  • Give notice if your availability changes or if you are leaving the organisation
  • Report any injuries or hazards that you notice in the workplace
  • Be willing to learn
  • Adhere to IPC Health policies and procedures
  • Work as part of a team
  • Deal with complaints in the appropriate manner
  • Undertake training as requested
  • Ask for support when needed
  • Support other team members.

Working With Children Check

If a Working With Children Check is required as part of your position, please ensure a copy of your check is uploaded in the attachments section. Please also click here to update your employer status to IPC Health - PO BOX 171, Deer Park VIC 3023. This will enable IPC Health to be updated with any changes to your status during the course of your stay with us.
