Applications are invited for the position of Manager Water Services, based at Council's Administration Centre.  The successful applicant shall be responsible for the overall management of the Water Services Branch, in accordance with the responsibilities (inputs) specified by the Director Civil Services.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications

  • Class C Drivers Licence;
  • Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • OR
  • Equivalent Water Services tertiary qualifications would also be considered;

 

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Local Government Engineering Operations, including Design, Water, Sewer, Development Assessment and Construction;
  • Experience in asset management and best practice management of water and sewerage systems;
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment processes including discharges to the environment in accordance with the relevant government regulations;
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage human and other resources to achieve identified outcomes;
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and experience interacting with the community on complex and challenging matters;
  • Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills;
  • Report writing skills;
  • Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including familiarity with Excel and Project Management software;
  • Ability to work with Council, governments/government instrumentalities, private sector, professional bodies, community groups/ community, kindred organisations and industrial bodies;
  • Extensive experience in preparing details estimates for projects;
  • Well developed communication skills; and
  • A demonstrated commitment to customer service.

 

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate Qualifications in Local Government Engineering or Management;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card');

 

Skills & Experience

  • At least five (5) years experience in a similar or related role; and
  • Demonstrated capacity to prepare and implement long-term Capital Works Programs.

 

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The total remuneration package for this role shall range from $155,000.00 to $165,000.00 gross per annum as follows:
