Part-time Waste Transfer Station Operator

Applications are invited for the position of Part-time Waste Transfer Station Operator, based at Council's Yetman Waste Transfer Station.  The successful applicant shall have the responsibility of, and will assist in a range of duties at the Yetman Waste Transfer Station and Council’s other Waste Management Facilities. The position will see physical demands such as prolonged periods of sitting and standing, frequent bending and heavy lifting. The position will require working on weekends as per the roster.

Essential Criteria:

 Qualifications

  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’).

 Skills and Experience

  • Cash handling ability;
  • Demonstrated customer service experience;
  • Ability to operate electronic funds transfer at point of sale (EFTPOS) and other office equipment;
  • Capable of identifying and sorting waste material and to undertake general labouring duties;
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small machinery such as mowers etc.

 Desirable Criteria:

 

Qualifications

  • Willingness to undertake training in waste transfer station operations;
  • First Aid Certificate.

 Skills and Experience

  • Understanding waste management practices and awareness of different waste classifications;
  • Previous experience in a similar field.

 

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 2, Grade 2.  The ordinary salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $315.73 to $333.12 gross per week for eight (8.0) hours worked per week.  In addition, a Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $1.288 per hour will be paid where applicable.
