Applications are invited for the position of Bitumen Patching Ganger/Driver, based at Council's Inverell Works Centre. The successful applicant shall be one of Council's in-field working supervisors, responsible for the execution of maintenance and/ or construction projects including the supervision of a specialist patching unit and operation of a truck.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications

  • NSW School Certificate/ Record of School Achievement or equivalent.
  • NSW Class HR Drivers Licence.
  • Traffic Controller Certificate/Training Card or ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate or ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’).
  • Successful completion of an approved course in (or suitable experience in) supervision.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in contractor management.
  • Knowledge of roadwork techniques.
  • Suitable experience in a supervisory role.
  • Formal Training in (and/or satisfactory experience in) truck operations.

Desirable Criteria:

 Qualifications

  • Previously held National Certificate of Competency/Licence and/or current Statement of Attainment for operating Front End Loader/Backhoe (or proven extensive experience in this field).
  • Formal training or suitable experience in the operation of a Pave liner, Jet patcher or similar type bitumen patching unit.

 Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of the principles of road patching, heavy patching and sprayed bitumen seals.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 4, Grade 7.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,155.40 to $1,244.20 gross per week.  In addition a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $0.498 per hour will be paid where applicable.
