Expressions of Interest are invited from qualified heavy diesel mechanic for the role of Plant Repairer. The successful applicant shall join Council's talented mechanical workshop team and be responsible for maintenance, repair and maintaining the efficient performance of Council's motor vehicle and plant fleet.

Council will be periodically reviewing applications and conducting interviews prior to the closing date.

Essential

Qualifications

  • Trade Certificate as Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic, such as a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Mechanical Vehicle Technology;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card');

Skills and Experience

  • Expertise and experience in the following areas:
    • Petrol and diesel engines.
    • Vehicle electrical systems.
    • General fleet maintenance/ repair.
    • Manual, powershift and hydrostatic transmissions.
    • Hydraulic systems.
    • Plant/ vehicle air conditioning systems.
    • Light/ medium fabrication.
    • Earthmoving machinery maintenance and repair.
    • Inspect/ repair on highway equipment for registration purposes.
  • Experience in the repair of all types of mechanical components.

Desirable

Qualifications

  • NSW Class HR Drivers Licence, progressing to a NSW Class HC Drivers Licence;
  • Licenced Automotive Air Conditioning Repairer;
  • National Licence to perform High Risk Work for Non-Slewing Mobile Crane (CN), Dogging (DG), Forklift (LF) and Elevating Work Platform (WP);
  • Authorised RMS inspector for light and heavy vehicles.

 Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Technical/Trades Band 2, Level 2, Grade 10.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,349.60 to $1,453.46 gross per week.  In addition a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $0.513 per hour will be paid where applicable.

The ordinary hours of work shall be spread between Monday and Friday inclusive and shall not exceed twelve (12) hours in any one day exclusive of unpaid meal breaks or seventy-six (76) hours per fortnight in terms of Clause 19 of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
