Applications are invited for the position of Manager Environmental Health, based at Council's Administration Centre. The successful applicant shall provide assistance to provide assistance to the Director Environmental Services to ensure that the Environmental Compliance Branch functions are carried out in a cost efficient and operationally effective manner to achieve the Environmental Compliance Branch objectives.

Essential Criteria:
Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or Environmental Health;

NSW Class C Drivers Licence;
- SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card ('White Card');
Skills and Experience
- Experience in solid waste management including the operation of landfills;
- Strong knowledge of current environmental health issues with experience in inspections and compliance;
- A working knowledge and sound understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, and the Local Government Act 1993;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Proven ability to lead and motivate staff.
Desirable Criteria:
Skills and Experience
- Considerable local government experience in a commensurate role;
- A strong knowledge of the construction industry;
- Experience in facilities management such as public halls, caravan parks and aquatic centres;
- An understanding of the National Construction Code of Australia and associated standards;
- Demonstrated experience of the regulatory framework and dealing with a wide range of compliance matters within the local government context; and
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or one of the recognised qualifications for a building surveyor by Fair Trading NSW.
Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be Professional/Specialist Band 3, Level 4, Grade 19. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $2,280.20 to $2,455.43 gross per week.
