Position Overview

The Truck Driver/Ganger is an essential in-field supervisor responsible for the execution of maintenance programs within the Works Branch. This role involves managing and controlling the maintenance unit, driving and servicing plant machinery, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

In this role, you will work closely with the Supervisor of Construction and Surveillance, providing input on operational plans, managing WHS documentation, and enhancing the corporation’s public image through effective communication and relationship management. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of relevant qualifications and experience that enable them to effectively manage maintenance operations and drive plant machinery.

  • NSW School Certificate or acceptable education standard;
  • Satisfactory formal training in truck operation, suitable experience in truck operation;
  • NSW Class MR Drivers Licence;
  • National High Risk Work Licence for Dogging (DG);
  • Successful completion of an approved course for supervisors, or suitable experience;
  • Satisfactory experience in undertaking maintenance duties;
  • SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Traffic Controller (TCR) and Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) accreditation;
  • National WHS Certification Standard for Front End Loader/ Backhoe;
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’);
  • Satisfactory formal training in Chainsaw Operations including cross cutting and tree felling;
  • Chemical Application Certificate;
  • Crane and Plant Electrical Safety Certificate;
  • Asset Inspectors Certificate;
  • Culvert Inventory Collection – Qualified Inspectors Certificate.

Salary & Benefits

This position is classified under the Local Government (State) Award 2023, Band 1, Level 4, Grade 7, with a salary range from $1,190.10 to $1,281.53, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, a Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions allowance shall be paid where applicable.
